The 2024 Red Bull Shore Shift took place last Saturday and saw multiple teams pushed to their limits at Barry’s own Whitmore Bay.
The event organised by Red Bull consists of five coastal-themed workouts against opposing teams all whilst racing against the advancing tide. A total of Twenty selected gyms underwent the challenge and raced in teams of four.
Participants began the event with a 200-300m run to a water marker, followed by the gruelling five step work out challenge. The workouts had a coastal-themed twist and included a chipper using a weighted dinghy, synchro efforts using buoys, and a farmer's carry using jerry cans filled with water. They were named respectively Whose gonna carry the boat? Dumbbell on high water, Sailors carry, Dare 2 buoy, and Rising tide.
To finish the race, teams had to run into the sea and drag an anchor back to the finishing zone!
The top qualifying teams were:
Addix Fitness
Saxon Fitness
Dare 2B
ISO Fitness
UNIT15 Crossfit
Dragon Athletic
PA Fitness
Red Bull Gives us Wins
Colosseum Gym
