Two potential designs for a new mural at the Richard Taylor Memorial Skatepark in Barry have been unveiled.

The suggestion for a street art mural emerged from the consultation on the design of the replacement skate park in the Knap in September 2022.

Although the mural was not within the scope of the original project, the Richard Taylor Memorial Trust was keen to explore the idea, and funding and planning consent was later obtained.

Local street artists Hurts So Good held a drop in event last year to gather ideas for a design. Draft designs have now been drawn up, and the Vale Council is keen to see what people think.

A survey was created so people can "have their say" and reactions to the potential designs varied online.

Comments on the council post included: “Give the kids a couple of boxes of spray paint for use on the skate park let them decide.”

“Great idea to have a mural. They are not what I expected at all. Thought there would be more pictures of Richard Taylor and his motto.”

“I walked past yesterday, and it definitely needs some colour.”
