Three Vale of Glamorgan clubs were in action in the second qualifying round of the JD FAW Cup recently.

Ely Rangers faced SW Premier League rivals Wenvoe at Station Road, and emerged victorious with a 5-2 win.

Richard Greaves and Alex Long got an early start, netting goals within the first 15 minutes.

Morgan Ashworth and Oliver Bradley also chipped in before half time.

Alex Long then rounded off the win with his second goal just on the hour mark.

In a more challenging game, Cardiff Airport travelled to Neath to battle Ynysygerwn of the higher SE Ardal League.

Despite going two down, Cardiff Airport levelled through goals by Joey Morelli and Theo Richards.

A penalty put Ynysygerwn back at the helm before Joey Morelli scored again, bringing the match to a tie.

However, a goal in the 97th minute from Ynysygerwn sealed the match.

Holton Road, the third Vale team in the competition, faced Pill FC from the Gwent County League Premier Division.

After trailing by four goals in the initial 20 minutes, Holton stepped up with goals from Shaun Jachontow, Bradley O’Loughlin, and Josh Bell.

Sadly, this wasn't enough, and they ultimately lost 6-3.

In subsequent SWPL Championship action, Vale United clashed with newly promoted Afan United at Corntown.

A flurry of goals in the initial 17 minutes resulted in Afan leading 3-1.

James Morris and Hywel Crosby-Wyatt scored for Vale, but they lost the match 4-2.

Dinas Powys earned a satisfying 3-2 victory over Cwmbach Royal Stars - their second league win of the season. It was a victory to savour as Cwmbach were unbeaten last season, which earned them promotion.

Izaac Follon and Teifi Jones made significant contributions to the victory, with the former scoring twice, including a 95th minute winner.

Meanwhile, Cogan Coronation recorded a comprehensive 6-2 win against Maesteg Park at Cogan Leisure Centre with Alex Coffey (two goals), Kellan Allison, Leigh Bennett, Callum Pearce, and Josh Nicholls getting on the scoresheet.

Lastly, Sully Sports bounced back against Margam Youth Centre after going two down in the opening 10 minutes.

Despite Margam retaking the lead twice, Sully's Isaac Kahar (two goals), Caius Mills, Joe Stephens-Collins, Owen Gavin and Luke Evans fought back, resulting in a spectacular 6-4 victory for the visitors.
