The newly renamed and rebranded South Wales Premier League started its new campaign for 2024-2025.

In the Premier Division, Cardiff Airport, looking to improve on their fourth place finish last season, faced a difficult opener against newly promoted Llantwit Fardre.

A brace by Ollie Tipples gave Airport a two-nil half time lead, and despite Llantwit Fardre scoring a goal back early in the second half, Airport went on to score three more without reply via Lee Stradling, James Scott and a late Theo Richards penalty to win 5-1.

Newly promoted Championship winners Ely Rangers also faced a tough opener at Wenvoe facing Porthcawl Town Athletic.

Andrew Muscat opened the scoring for Rangers inside 10 minutes before Porthcawl equalised.

Alex Long opened his account for the season only to be sent off for his second yellow a minute later! Ethan Caveney made it 3-1 but Porthcawl scored two back to end up 3-3

Vale United entertained Llanrumney United at Corntown and came out 2-0 winners with Dan Hanson and Ryan Hughes scoring inside a five minute spell around the 30 minute mark.

At Treforest’s White Tips Stadium, a former temporary ground for Barry Town during January 2005 to May 2006, Dinas Powys found themselves 1-0 down at half time and, although having a player shown a red card on the hour mark, managed to equalise through Izaac Follon with 15 minutes to go only to lose 2-1 to a 92nd minute Treforest winner.

Cogan Coronation had a disappointing start going down at home 2-0 to newly promoted Caerau All Whites

After their epic Welsh Cup exploits, Holton Road travelled west to play Margam Youth Centre in literally a game of two halves!

Finding themselves 4-0 down at half time, a resurgent Holton Road could only get the three in reply through Rhys James Jack Martyn and Dan Morgan, going down 4-3!
