NEWPORT County AFC great Robbie Willmott will test himself in the Cymru Premier this season after signing for Barry Town United.
The 34-year-old midfielder has signed up at Jenner Park Stadium after most recently being with Weston-super-Mare in National League South, on loan from National League Woking.
Willmott, who can play out wide or in the middle, will add some quality to former County defender Steve Jenkins’ squad with Barry getting their season under way against Bala next Saturday.
The versatile midfielder enjoyed two spells with the Exiles and racked up 292 appearances over nine campaigns, playing a key role in the memorable cup runs under Michael Flynn.
Willmott started out at Cambridge United and also had spells with Luton, Ebbsfleet, Eastleigh, Bishop's Stortford, Chelmsford, Exeter and Walsall.
He joins a Barry side who enjoyed a 2-1 win over the Exiles in a friendly on their plastic pitch last month and finished ninth in the 12-team top flight of Welsh football last season.
