ON Saturday, July 24, Millwood Bowling Club travelled to Penyrheol for a Division 4 League Fixture.
K Thomas, A Evans and K Davies raced into a 12 shots to 1 lead after 6 ends but the home rink recovered to level scores at 12 all after 12 ends.
Millwood pulled out the stops and 9 shots on next 4 ends eased to a 21 to 12 shots win.
Rink 3 saw N Tutton, K Lewys and G Williams after a slow start find their touch and steadily keep the pressure on their opponents and win comfortably by 23 shots to 12.
Rink 1 D Bourne, P Taylor and B Crockford found the green to their liking and showed this by winning 25 shots to 8.
Rink 4 had another battle where C Hopkins, M Gronow and R Browne struggled and trailed 13 shots to 5 after 11 ends, but 14 shots without reply over final 7 ends gave them the win 19 shots to 13. It was an overall win for Millwood by 88 shots to 51 and 14 points.
At Millwood meanwhile Barry Central were the visitors for a Division 5 league fixture.
G Davies, T Cole and J Cauldwell on Rink 2 were nip and tuck throughout and managed a 17 shots to 13 win.
Rink 3 saw G Smith, P Childs and A Williams struggled from the start and went down 27 shots to 13.
Over on Rink 4, M Sewell, M Williams and B Howcroft did not find the rink to their liking and were soundly beaten 23 shots to 9.
G Murphy, P Barnett and S Sewell started slowly and trailed 11 shots to 5 after 10 ends.
However as the game progressed they chipped away at the lead finally winning 17 shots to 13.
Victory to the visitors 75 shots to 56.
