ON a fairly dry evening, Wednesday, June 30, Barry Central won a home match against Rhoose (mixed team), with a score of 59 shots to 40 shots (16 players per team).
Central, Rink 1, Lead Steven Walker, 2nd Will Ferris, 3rd David. Brewer, Skip Tony Goddard, 16 shots to Rhoose 6 shots.
Central, Rink 2, Lead Des Hunt, 2nd Rhys Thomas, 3rd George Carstairs, Skip John Bergland, 11 shots to Rhoose 16.
Central, Rink 3, Lead Dave Freestone, 2nd Andrew Pemberton, 3rd Archie Gibson, Skip Dave Goddard, 12 shots to 10 shots.
Central, Rink 4, Lead Alan Williams, 2nd Phil Harris, 3rd Stewart Chick, Skip Gary Goldthorpe, 20 shots to 8 shots.
Result - 59 shots to Barry Central, 40 shots to Rhoose.
Game points – Barry Central 6, Rhoose 0.
Total points for match – Barry Central 12, Rhoose 2.
On Saturday, July 3, there being no Saturday league match, Barry Central played internal cup competitions comprising Club Championship Cup (4 woods), Two Woods Cup, Handicap Cup (4 woods), Reg Hall Cup (4 woods), Pairs (4 woods). Next round of clubs competitions to be completed by August 1.
The Castle family have generously donated to Barry Central a memorial bench, situated in grounds of the club, in memory of Mr. Brian Castle a well respected member, who sadly passed away last year.
A fantastic live music night was held last Friday evening and was thoroughly enjoyed by all those who attended and will be repeated next month (tickets available to other bowlers in Barry, contact one of the management team, phone numbers displayed on gate notice board, limited numbers so apply early).
Central have a special offer currently running: two hours of bowls for £5 with this amount taken off annual membership fee if you join us and you will be able to come to our social evenings of – music, quiz, bingo, etc. We are also one of the few bowling clubs based in Barry that has its own disabled bowling wheelchair.
Clubhouse main room hire is available with bar facilities (hygiene rated kitchen, disabled access/toilets), ideal for adult birthday parties, wakes, business meetings, reasonable rates and we are looking for banner sponsors for next season.
