A CRACKING game of bowls was played at Barry Central Bowling Club on Saturday against Ynysybwl (A) and was won by Central with a score line of 79 shots to 54.

Being in League 5, the game was played as 4 rinks of triples, 3 woods per player (covid-19 regs).

Central, Rink 2, skip Tony Goddard lost 12 shots to Ynysybwl 21, skip E. Chinnock.

Central Rink 3, skip Dave Goddard won 23 shots to Ynysybwl 13, skip G. Sweeney.

Central Rink 4, skip Gary Goldthorpe won 27 shots to Ynysybwl 7, skip G. Evans.

Central Rink 5, skip John Bergland won 17 shots to Ynysybwl 13, skip R. Welsh.

Result - 79 points to Barry Central, 54 points to Ynysybwl 54.

Match points – Barry Central 6, Ynysybwl 0.

Total points for match – Barry Central 12, Ynysybwl 2.

On the previous Wednesday the club were hosts to Sully Sports Bowling Club and an enjoyable evening of bowls was played (Monro Cup), with Sully winning by 6 shots.

As with other bowling clubs in Wales, Central which was formed in 1909 now situated in Gladstone Park is looking for new members, experienced or not.

Tuition is available from a registered bowling coach, who is one of our members.

Central have a special offer currently running, two hours of bowls for £5 with this amount taken off the annual membership fee if you join.
