THE winter days were long
I was feeling really low
I longed for warmer air
And the sun to make me glow.
Then suddenly it came
Like a spirit in the night
Spring had sprung its magic
And now my world looked bright.
Looking from my garden
I saw a cloudless sky
The sun warmed my body
I waved my blues goodbye.
A blackbird on the apple tree
Announced it with his song
And all around I found the clues
That proved he wasn't wrong.
There was a bud, a shoot, a flower
All anxious to appear
I was so overcome
I shed a little tear.
And so I stood in reverence
I said a little prayer
And thanked God my creator
For the beauty everywhere.
