I WISH to express my sincere thanks to the Vale of Glamorgan Community's first police team for Gibbonsdown, for their work in organising, free of charge, a private showing of the latest Lord of the Rings movie epic for 120 pupils from Oakfield Primary School, Ysgol Gwaun Y Nant and Colcot Primary School.
It is initiatives like these that will build avenues of trust and understanding between the local police and future teenagers for years to come.
This is a wonderful good news story.
Thanks must also go to the local business community for supporting the event.
The children were kindly given sweets from Morrisons Superstore, while Harper Collins publishers donated 15 free box sets (105 individual books) of the The Lord of The Rings worth £400 to the primary schools.
Thomas Motors of Barry also provided free bus travel.
Thanks everyone for all your help and support.
Rob Curtis, Vale Councillor for the Gibbonsdown Ward, 118 Merthyr Dyfan Road, Barry
