Barry Town face a crucial game this Saturday against a buoyant Bangor City who are on a powerful run which has taken them to just five points behind Barry.
With the bonus of two games in hand it is crucial for Kenny Brown's men to get all 3 points to stay in touch with TNS.
This game against Bangor will be a tremendous test of character for the lads and much will depend on Barry using the promptings of Leon Jeanne, Tom Ramasut and Nathan Cotterill. Top scorer Jamie Moralee will be looking for a supply of quality ball in the right places to add to his goal tally.
Bangor have strengthened their line-up with the return of Marc Lloyd-Williams, and a home crowd of 1,000 plus will be urging the Blues on.
Barry supporters can catch the bus at 8am for the long trip, but need to ring Tim Johnson on 734050 to confirm their seat.
Barry are likely to play the following side: Baruwa, Phillips, Jarman, York or Kenny Brown, Morgan, Lloyd, Jenkins or Kennedy, Ramasut, Cotterill, Moralee, Jeanne. Subs: Burke, Brown or York, Kennedy or Jenkins.
BARRY 4, DINAS POWYS 0
Barry played a friendly at Jenner Park against Welsh League Division 2 leaders Dinas Powys on a cold Monday night with just a few shivering spectators.
All the goals came in the first half with Barry playing five triallists. Completely rested from the game were Kenny Brown, Moralee, Cotterill and Baruwa.
Leon Jeanne was the player who caught the eye in the first half. He almost scored an early goal when on a mazey run, but it was new signing Neil Gough who opened the scoring after 17 minutes.
Nicky Burke crossed for Jeanne to get the second goal after 25 minutes. Gough hit the bar just after with a bicycle style overhead kick.
It was 3-0 when Lee Pratt was brought down in the box, Nicky Burke hitting home the penalty kick. Burke headed home for 4-0 on 38 minutes.
In a goalless second half the only bright spark was from substitute Tom Ramasut who put himself about but had little support from his team mates who lacked enterprise and imagination.
The quality of crosses into the box was poor and Barry's passing was often too tight. How Barry need better running off the ball and more options for the person in possession.
The quality of triallists simply did nothing to inspire and for Kenny to take Barry Town further and to progress in Europe, then quality players must be brought in.
Certainly on Monday night's showing, the new faces were not as good as the players Kenny already has.
