I FEEL I must write after reading Councillor Clease's comment about the Buttrills Field.

I walk the fields twice a day and, apart from the council marking out the pitches every week, I have also seen them spiking and aerating the fields at least once a week.

Where the council fails is insufficient barriers to prevent motorbikes entering the fields.

Football supporters and players leave behind lager cans, empty glass bottles and plastic drink containers.

The council is certainly not picking up rubbish on and around the pitches, as can be seen, especially at this time of year.

Also, other users abuse the fields by gouging the ground while playing golf.

People around the fields also throw garden rubbish over the fence.

Last year I reported to the council, people who had cut down trees in their gardens and dumped them in the fields.

The council came and removed these cuttings, I assume, free of charge, to these residents.

While on the subject of rubbish, people objecting to the proposal at White Farm will notice a proposal to clear some of the land for recreational purposes.

A mile-long section of land surrounding White Farm which, at the moment is used as a rubbish tip by residents.

The council may not be perfect, but neither are the residents.
