Ald Tom Yeoman was congratulated on his selection as Mayor of Barry for Coronation Year, by the chairman (Sir Ivor B Thomas) at a meeting of the South-east Glamorgan Divisional Executive at Cardiff on Wednesday.

Lloyds Bank announce that on Monday next the business at present carried on at 78 Thompson Street will be removed to new premises at 120 Holton Road, Barry Dock.

The Barry & District Chrysanthemum Society held a whist drive last week at the Old Pioneers Hall, Beryl Road.

Hours of sunshine recorded during the month of January amount to 42.3 hours as compared with 87.2 hours for the same period last year.

A Coronation Year lighting scheme for Romilly Park, which would cost £800 was reduced to £75.

A team from the Barry Sea Angling Society won the Pier Championship Cup presented by the Vice President of Barry AC Mr V F Chambers.

Mr Gwyn Phillips of Dow Corning Ltd, Cardiff Road, Barry was one of 78 safety managers to be honoured at a reception held at the Middle Temple recently.

Cold Knap Farm the oldest continually occupied house in Barry and first mentioned in the local records of 1570, has been made a protected building on the orders of the Secretary of State.

The Vale of Glamorgan Borough Council have decided to reintroduce travel passes from April 1, 1978.

A chance visit to Barry by a group of German educationalists may be the start of a permanent link between one of the country's top hotel training establishments and the Barry College of Further Education's catering department.
