FURTHER evidence of the decline in services and shops in central Barry was seen by the sad closure of the Barry Road petrol station last week.
This busy service station had seen sales decline in the last year below a minimum economic level. The franchisee was convinced that the relative decline began with the opening of Morrisons at the Waterfront.
Once these supermarkets eliminate most local competition, there will be nothing to stop them doing what they like. They have the economic and political power to win and we the public will have let it happen.
