THE LAST month has seen a radical initiative by a local school, who have introduced a wide range of activities to their pupils.
St Richard Gwyn High School, Barry, followed up on previous success with a six-week block of 22 activities, including sport.
The Welsh Lacrosse Association were asked to introduce lacrosse and a group of 30 young boys and girls have been enthusiastically learning the art of this extremely skilful game.
Initially the boys and girls, some of whom had not seen a lacrosse stick, were slow to pick up the skills, but after only four lessons coach Dave Jones has seen a marked improvement in the majority of the youngsters.
With two weeks remaining they have been keen to show off their skills.
The Welsh Lacrosse Association, in particular Mr Chris Wills, Director of Development, wish to thank the school for the invitation and hope that lacrosse will be introduced as an "after school" activity in the coming months.
