THIS ALL-British film can certainly howl up a storm, even though there are very few budget-breaking names in it.
Dog Soldiers stars Sean Pertwee and Kevin McKidd, as the leaders of a band of British soldiers sent to the Scottish Highlands on special training manoeuvres.
They think that their biggest worry is being stuck in the middle of nowhere, and missing a vital England versus Germany World Cup qualifier.
Things take a turn for the worse when they stumble upon Liam Cunningham, who plays the twisted Captain Ryan.
He is apparently the sole survivor of his Special Operations team that was literally torn to pieces.
Ryan refuses to disclose the secret behind his mission, even though whoever or whatever ate his men seems hungry for seconds.
As the full moon rises, it looks as though time has run out for the hapless solders.
Help arrives in the form of local girl Megan, who shelters them in a farmhouse deep in the forest, but when they realise that it's home to a pack of blood lusting werewolves, their nightmare has just begun!
With no telephone, no escape route, little ammunition and way too much night left, it's a battle against the beasts.
While the plot is slightly predictable, Dog Soldiers fuses black humour with a few edge-of-the-seat moments.
It even manages to slip in a small twist at the end of the movie.
There's nothing too shocking about the DVD, but it might be best to limit the viewing to the certificated 15s and over.
