A GRATEFUL Barry mum wants to trace the good Samaritan who rushed to help her son last week.

Joanne Tipton is looking for the kind-hearted local who sprung into action when 10-year-old Adam was knocked off his bike on Sunday, March 16.

Not only did a passer-by rush to his aid but he cradled the youngster with his coat, which Joanne would like to return.

The Job Search Co-ordinator from Dyfan Road also spoke of the horror and worry when her son was knocked over.

Forty-one-year-old Joanne said: "My husband Chris and I were on our way home from shopping on Sunday, March 16, when we got a phone call saying Adam had been hurt."

Coming home from a friend's house at around 1.55pm, Adam was knocked off his bike at the zebra crossing on Gladstone Road.

Chris, 32, added: "We've always taught him road safety, even following him in the car the first time he made the journey to his friend in Regent Street.

But that is a very dangerous corner."

"We rushed to the University Hospital of Wales. Adam was in the Accident and Emergency department with a coat wrapped around him.

He can't remember a thing about when he was hit, so we don't know who to return this coat to.

And we would obviously like to say a big 'thank you'."

The brave Gladstone Road pupil was treated for a fractured skull and bruising.

But although he is banned from sports or bikeriding for six weeks, he is making a full recovery.

Joanne said: "Whoever it was who stopped, please call us on 01446 401801 so we can give you back your coat and thank you properly for your help."

Police confirmed that this was an unfortunate accident.

A spokesman said: "We would ask all motorists and pedestrians approaching zebra crossings to do so with caution to prevent this occurrence from happening again."
