DESPITE being a fans' favourite the world over, whether because of her films, music or backside, Jennifer Lopez is one of those actresses often bullied by the critics.
Fair enough, Anaconda isn't exactly memorable for the right reasons, but she has proved that she can act on more than one occasion.
But her next critical mauling is Maid In Manhattan.
Marissa is a maid in a New York hotel.
When she tries on a £5000 suit which belongs to a guest, an election candidate catches her in it and asks her out.
While shamefully fooling him that she is not simply a maid but a more wealthy person, the two begin to fall in love, but the complication begins to send her on a guilt trip.
When you have Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes cast in a romance, you'll probably guess that it'll be quite predictable all the way - and it pretty much is.
With some of the recent negative reviews, you wonder why Lopez even bothers.
Most of her criticism is unfair and untrue, but if she continues to make unmemorable films like this, why does she bother?
The film isn't awful, it's not even bad, but it's not really that good either.
While the chemistry between Lopez and the fantastic Fiennes is convincing enough, the film tries to be more than it really is.
At the end of the day it's just another predictable, slushy romance.
Bob Hoskins pops up and he is nothing less than exceptional, and a small role for the unused Stanley Tucci too.
What is the point in casting great actors like Hoskins and Tucci and barely use them?
Actually what was really the point in the film?
It tries too hard and is only really saved by the performance. At least the acting was good!
