D E Morris, Barry, a member of Cardiff University, took part in the Welsh Five-mile Junior Road Walk Championship, which started from the Temple Street, YMCA, Newport, on Saturday.

Turner's Asbestos Cement Co Ltd, Rhoose, held their annual dance at Bindles Ballroom on Friday, when more than 300 people danced to the music of Bert Miller and his band.

Girls of High Street Secondary Modern School, who are anxious to provide a stage at the school, performed the fairy opera Hansel and Gretel at the Alexandra Gardens Hall.

A Barry girl, Miss Gloria Williams, appeared on the television programme Come Dancing, from the Casino Ballroom, Birmingham.

Twenty five children, pupils of the Colcot Infants' School, are still unable to attend school as a result of the recent outbreak of food poisoning in that area.

After representations from Sir Raymond Gower, Barry's MP, to Mr W P Davey, the chief executive of South Glamorgan County Council, about the frequent obstruction of the access road to the flats at St Osyth Court, near Romilly Park, it has been revealed that nobody knows who owns the road.

Sir Raymond Gower, Barry's MP has again raised the matter of the provision of a railway halt at Eastbrook, Dinas Powis, with the South Glamorgan County Council.

The Women's section of the Royal British Legion recently held their 54th annual dinner at the RAOB Club in Broad Street.

The Vale Council has agreed to employ outside architects for its major civic centre and leisure centre projects on waste land at Broad Street, Barry.

Jenner Park will be the venue for this Sunday for a celebrity football match in aid of the Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan's Silver Jubilee Appeal.
