AS a local councillor, I would like to draw the attention of residents of Rhoose to the fact the runway at Cardiff International Airport has been earmarked for essential maintenance work.
Scheduled to take placed between 12.30am and 7am each night from March 31-April 19, the work, I have been informed, is not expected to have a significant noise impact on the local community.
The contractor will be erecting a small, temporary asphalt batching plant on the north side of the airport for the duration of the works, but similarly, this is not expected to create any noise issues.
The existing surface was laid in 1987, and this essential work is being undertaken to bring the runway surface up to an acceptable level for licensed aircraft operations.
Cllr Jeffrey James Vale of Glamorgan Council Leader and Rhoose ward councillor
