A BARRY builder is disgusted at the service provided by the town's dumping site.
Coldbrook Road resident Ceri Rowlands uses the civic amenity depot on Hayes Road regularly but says the regulations are ridiculous.
The sixty-year old told the News: "The bin men come early and I miss them.
So I take my household rubbish to the dump. Last week it took 40 minutes from the Sully roundabout to the entrance.
And a further 20 minutes to get into the site itself."
He added: "If I trim my trees, I have to call the Vale of Glamorgan Council to arrange a visit to get a permit - just so I can dump some twigs.
This bureaucracy costs money. Are they trying to discourage us from disposing of waste properly?"
Ceri also claim the notices on the gates could put anyone off and the staff are rude and unhelpful.
He said: "I use my trailer because the stuff smells.
But there are signs saying you can't walk into the site, vans are banned and from May onwards, so are trailers.
"The skips are so high some people have to ask for help.
But I think the men there are rude.
I can see how vulnerable people would be intimated by their behaviour."
Annoyed that builders are blamed for these changes, Ceri added: "There's no point builders dumping hardcore waste in the sites.
It's too heavy to load, and we hire skips.
So why all these rules?"
A Vale of Glamorgan Council spokesman said: "Council officers are currently investigating proposals for a new facility in this area that would include improved capacity, better access and additional skips.
It is regrettable that in recent weeks there have been some longer than usual delays in gaining access to the facility but this has been attributed to the spell of warm weather which has resulted in increased usage."
"The council is always concerned at any problems in relation to the running and management of the site and refer complaints to the contractor managing it on their behalf.
