GOOD news came in the Barry and District on March 20.
I refer, of course, to the item on page seven, in which it was reported that Vale AM Jane Hutt and Environment Minister Sue Essex have, at long last, publicly recognised that dog fouling is a 'Messy Menace'.
Having woken up to this unpleasant fact the all-powerful Assembly has agreed to come up with the miserly sum of £10,400 to launch a new campaign to educate the public in 'responsible dog ownership'.
The whole of this sum is laughably to be used to employ a project officer, when what is needed are several well paid highly visible uniformed dog wardens empowered to fine offending owners on the spot.
A small price to pay if we are to rid our public places of this 'messy menace'.
