The Vale of Glamorgan Council has approved a number of planning applications for the Barry area.

Here are the applications, including non-material amendments and tree works, approved between November 18 and 24.

Non-material amendment

An application for a non-material amendment has been approved for Olive Lodge on Port Road East.

The main application is a change of use from hotel to interim accommodation for the homeless, with external alterations and an extension.

The amendment involves changes to the front 'lean to' roof to accommodate PV panels, addition of PV panels to the main roof, alterations to fenestration and front access ramp, and change of material to dormer walls.

The development must now be carried out in line with the newly approved plans.

Rear extension

An application for a proposed ground floor rear extension to enlarge bedrooms at 29 Purdey Close has been approved.

The work must begin within five years of the approval date and be carried out in line with the approved plans.

The biodiversity enhancement measures set out in '962-P-02 Proposed Plan & Elevations' must be carried out in full prior to the first beneficial occupation or use of the development and thereafter retained in accordance with the approved details whilst the development remains in existence.

Tree works

An application for work to a tree in the Barry Marine Conservation Area has been approved.

The work involves the removal of one pine tree located in the rear garden at 8 Bron-y-Mor.

The application was made after a neighbour complained the tree was too tall and the applicant agreed.

The work must be carried out within 24 months of the approval date.

The authority has no objection to the proposed removal of the tree and does not intend to make a tree preservation order.

Rear extension

An application for a single-storey rear extension at 17 Barrians Way has been approved.

The work must begin within five years of the approval date and be carried out in line with the approved plans.

The biodiversity enhancement measures set out in 'HEPS 2.10 to 2.23 A Proposed Plans and Elevations' must be carried out in full prior to the first beneficial occupation or use of the development and thereafter retained in accordance with the approved details whilst the development remains in existence.

Discharge of condition

An application for the discharge of condition 5 (Materials details) for planning application ref 2022/01185/FUL has been approved.

The planning application was for the proposed change of use and conversion of the first and second floor and extension of The Merrie Friars building (8 and 9, Paget Road, Barry Island) to create six residential units (five additional) at 8, Paget Road, Barry.

The applicant provided a schedule of materials relating to fenestration, balustrades, canopies and external elevations, which was accepted by the council.
