TWO TEENAGE BOYS have been arrested following a serious assault on a 12-year-old girl in Barry at the weekend.
Police were called at around 5pm yesterday (Sunday, November 24) to a report of an assault near the Harbour Road car park in Barry Island.
The girl was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with serious injuries. Her condition is described as not life-threatening.
Two local boys aged 13 and 15 have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remain in police custody.
The younger boy has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
A police investigation is ongoing.
Detective Inspector Phil Marchant, from South Wales Police, said: “Understandably this incident and the ages of those involved will cause worry within the community.
“Two suspects, who are known to the victim, were arrested within an hour and at this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the assault.”
