A number of planning applications and non-material amendments have been submitted to the council for Barry.
Here are the applications submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council between Monday, November 4, and Sunday, November 10.
Fire barrier retention in nursing home
An application has been submitted to retain fire barriers in the loft space, retain the lift shaft, and temporary external fire escape stairs at College Fields Nursing Home.
The privately run home provides palliative and nursing care for 68 residents.
It was found that the building did not meet current fire safety requirements, posing a risk to residents and staff.
Urgent fire safety measures were thus undertaken.
Replace outbuilding
An application has been submitted to take down the existing outbuilding at 20 Porthkerry Road and replace it with a smaller one.
The proposed work aims to create more garden space at the property.
The side walls of the existing building are to remain, and the new building will be narrower and shorter.
The downsized building has been completed but requires rendering and roof waterproofing.
Non-material amendment to roof
A non-material amendment has been submitted for adjustments to the front 'lean to' roof, and the addition of PV panels at Olive Lodge on Port Road East.
Alterations to fenestration and the front access ramp, and a change of material to dormer walls are also proposed.
The amendment is needed to achieve the required EPC rating.
Non-material amendment to porch
A non-material amendment has been submitted for an adjustment to the porch at 290 Barry Road granted planning permission for a single-storey rear and side extension in 2022.
The amendment proposes making the porch 350mm bigger and adding a pitched roof.
Granny annex
An application for a proposed granny annex in the rear garden of 5 Cawley Place has been submitted to the council.
The applicant owns and lives at no 3 Cawley Place and also owns the house and land at no 5 Cawley Place.
He rents out the house at no 5 and a small patch of the rear garden.
The proposed granny annex outbuilding will be located within the remainder of the rear garden at no 5 Cawley Place with wheelchair access from the side of no 5 Cawley Place.
The granny annex is to be used for the client's mother.
