A shop owner from Barry has retired after 34 years in business.

62-year-old Ram Jikerai has been running the Premier shop on Skomer Road for the last 34 years.

He’s an integral part of the Gibbonsdown community and has a fond place in many people’s memories.

We asked Ram what it was like to retire after offering good customer service for many years.

He said: “I’m a bit emotional but my time has come.

“A lot of people have said that it was a shock like and that they’ve coming here for ages and that I’m still here.”

Ram continued: “Theres a lot of happy memories and sad memories with everything and I’ve seen the community get built up over the years.”
