A DANCE crew from Barry were surprised by members of Strictly Come Dancing.

Children at Motion Control Dance Studio in Barry were left absolutely gobsmacked when members of the BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing visited Barry YMCA to dance with the crew.

The surprise was organised by Children in need and saw children with disabilities share their love of dance with stars from the show including Strictly’s own judge Anton Du Beke.

The surprise took place Thursday, October 24 and aired on BBC one on Saturday.Members of Motion Control Dance Studio and Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke Members of Motion Control Dance Studio and Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke (Image: Sam Griffiths) Sam Griffiths 39, disability dance coordinator at Motion Control Dance Studio, said: “So, the class that was shown on the Strictly film is part of our local motion groups, and they are my disability classes.

“We do have a range some are verbal some are nonverbal some have ASD some might just have a global delay learning development, and it really varies depending on person to person.”

We asked Sam what Anton Du Beke and the other dancers were like in person she said: “He was an absolute gent and is as funny as he is on the telly! He was a super star with the kids, all of them were to be honest.

“They really embraced their love of dance and got to know them in a short space of time and what they liked to do dance wise.”

Motion Control Dance Studio were fortunate enough to receive funding from Children in Need. The donations are estimated to be around £15,000 a year for the next 3 years.
