A Barry man completed three ultramarathons for men’s mental health.
Louis Deere 26, is a personal trainer who recently challenged himself to complete three ultramarathons for men’s mental health campaign Movember.
Movember is a men’s mental health charity which specialises in suicide prevention and raising funds to help tackle prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
The movement which takes place in November encourages men to grow moustaches to show unity and delve into topics surrounding mental health and cancer awareness.
Louis explained his reasoning behind his ultramarathons, he said: “So men’s mental health is quite a big thing for me, I struggled a lot when I was younger and when I started doing fitness stuff it really helped me.
“I only got into fitness stuff say four to five years ago and I want to show other people how it can help really.”
During his Movember challenge Louis completed each ultra marathon one after the other at his gym Louis Deere Fitness on Penarth Road in Cardiff.
The challenge took a total of 12 hours 37 minutes which consisted of 50km of skiing, 50km of rowing, and 100km of cycling.
Overall, Louis managed to raise over £1200 for Movember.
He said: “It’s all done to raise money and awareness for men’s health but also to show that hard things are possible.”
