New longer passenger shelters have been installed at Dinas Powys train station.
In a new addition to Dinas Powys station the passenger shelters will provide essential shelter for passengers reliant on public transport.
Plaid Cymru Councillor Chris Franks commented on the matter and said: “Local Plaid Councillors regularly meet with Transport for Wales staff to press for improved facilities and services.”
He continued: "If we want to encourage people to use the trains better facilities are essential. We know that there is often criticism about train punctually and we are constantly urging Transport for Wales to improve matters.”
“Funding for passengers cannot be spent on other pressing issues such as road maintenance".
Improvements to the shelters were made earlier last week on October 25th by railway company Transport for Wales.
A spokesperson for Transport for Wales said: “The cost of the replacement shelters was £32,000. This includes removal of the old shelters, groundwork, the purchase of the new shelters and installation.”
“New shelters have been installed at Dinas Powys station as part of a programme of renewal and rebranding across the South Wales Metro area to improve facilities for our customers.”
