A former council call centre in Barry is to be transformed into a gym space.
Barry Leisure Centre on Greenwood Street has applied to extend the main floor of their gym.
The application states: “The current proposal is that the council are vacating their call centre, called CV1, attached to Barry Leisure Centre and was formerly the Bowl Hall, once linked to the main centre.
"In partnership with the council, we are proposing to redevelop the first floor space into an extension of the main gym.
"This area would then form part of the existing lease until 2029 and the access for customers would be re-established.”
A spokesperson for the project said: “The project is currently in the discussion phase while we wait for approval on a number of areas.”
A resident that commented on the application said: “I can confirm that the leisure services section are fully supportive of the proposals that will provide much needed additional recreation opportunities to local residents.”
