A Dinas Powys women's group has raised funds for a breast cancer charity through a cheeky calendar.
Dinas Powys Women’s Institute (DPWI) has supported the Breast Centre Appeal, a key initiative of Cardiff and Vale Health Charity, with a 'Calendar Girls' style calendar.
The Breast Centre, located in Llandough Hospital, offers a range of services, including a state-of-the-art gym, advanced scanning and mammogram equipment, handheld ultrasound devices for surgery, and a senior physiotherapist for exercise prescription services.
The centre also provides swimming sessions for patients who have undergone breast cancer treatment, complementary therapies, and specialist undergarments for post-operative patients.
There is also pre-help and rehab available.
The DPWI, spearheaded by president Marylyn Thomas, decided to create the calendar to support the appeal.
The project, described as 'enormous fun,' has fostered a close bond among the members, described as a 'merry band of volunteers', who enjoyed the experience as models.
The calendar's photographs, taken by photographer Sian Lewis, were provided by Ms Lewis for free.
The calendars have been well received, with buyers reportedly 'highly amused' by their content.
To maximise audience reach, the DPWI held a coffee morning to launch the sale of the calendars, which saw a large turnout and raised funds for the charity.
The calendars were also sold in the hospital where the funds will be donated.
The DWPI said that its members are very proud to support the hospital and cause.
