Barry boy appears on medical reality TV show Saving Lives in Cardiff

Brody Moore 15, appeared on the show last month when he underwent a spinal operation for scoliosis at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales.

The operation itself was cancelled four times within 18 months so Brody’s surgery was of immediate urgency.

Whilst at the hospital Brody was treated by surgeon Mike McCarthy in a bid to straighten out his spine.

Brody was born with Norrie disease and has had a total of 15 operations since he was aged 4.

His condition means that Brody was born blind and sadly he’s now starting to suffer with hearing loss.

A month later we checked in with Brody and his family to see how he is recovering from his treatment.Brody Moore with grandfather Terry Moore (Image: Terry Moore) Brody’s grandfather Terry Moore 68 said: “He’s absolutely fine he didn’t seem to be in any pain at all afterwards but he’s a brave lad and he won’t admit to it either.

“He doesn’t like the fuss and they’ve done such a marvellous job these people.”

Following his appearance on the show Brody has captured the attention of the nation.

He’s since appeared on Bargain Hunt and The Morning Show where he met his favourite celebrity, Vernon Kay.  

Brody on The Morning Show (Image: Terry Moore) Terry continued: “When he was much younger, they put him in a full body cast which was aimed at sort of trying to correct the curvature in his spine.

“It was very uncomfortable he had to wear it 23 hours a day and it didn’t accomplish anything.”

We asked Brody how he’s feeling Post Op he said: “I feel absolutely ten out of ten, I’ve also had a left eye operation back in 2021 so that was the worst operation I’ve ever had.

 “The back one wasn’t painful, I felt like I was comfortable.”

Brody and Terry are both quiz fanatics and enjoy a pub quiz down at the King William or ‘The Billy’ in Barry.

They are hoping celebrity quiz show host Vernon Kay will stick to his promise to join Brody for a quiz night in Barry one evening.
