‘A wave of light’ in honour of baby loss awareness week was carried out yesterday (October 15th) by bereaved parents in the Vale and across the nation.
Baby loss awareness week takes place October 9th to 15th and is dedicated to remembering babies and lost pregnancies, raise awareness, and support those affected.
The wave of light event encourages families across the world to light a candle at 7pm local time and leaving it burning for at least one hour to remember all the babies that have passed away.
The event is a way of uniting parents who have been unfortunate enough to lose a baby.In 2022 in Wales there was a total of 102 infant deaths and an infant mortality rate of 3.6 deaths per 1,000 live births.
Many bereaved parents participated in the event, and some were even brave enough to share with us pictures of their lit candles. Here are some of the emotional images we were sent.
