A number of planning applications have been approved by the Vale of Glamorgan Council for the Barry area.
Here are the applications approved between October 7 and 13.
Change of use to a Class A1 retail unit for the sale of wedding dresses
An application to change the use of a Barry Waterfront site to a retail unit for selling wedding dresses has been approved.
The currently vacant commercial property is set to create one full-time and two part-time jobs.
The site was previously limited to Class A3 usage.
The conditions for this approval include a restriction on operation hours from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
Tree work
Approval has been granted for work on trees covered by TPO No.04 of 2024.
This includes the complete removal of a multi-stemmed ash tree adjacent to 20 Clement Place due to symptoms of ash dieback and potential unstable ground conditions.
Dead wood removal on a group of ash trees overhanging the footpath near 19 Clement Place has also been approved.
The work must be carried out within 12 months of the date of approval.
Replacement trees of British Broadleaved species will be planted during the next available planting season.
Retrospective planning permission to erect a single-storey conservatory to the rear of the property
Retrospective planning permission has been granted for a single-storey conservatory at the rear of 32 Aneurin Road, Barry.
Construction of the conservatory began without permission on March 18, 2024, but is yet to be completed.
The work must align with the approved plans and the biodiversity enhancement measures as stated in the amended biodiversity and green infrastructure statement.
Retrospective application for increased dimensions on dormers
Retrospective planning permission has been granted for increased dimensions of both previously approved dormers on the front elevation of 2, Bungalow, Waycock Road, Barry.
Other approved alterations include the insertion of bi-folding doors on the rear elevation, an additional skylight on the rear roofslope, omission of a door on the side elevation, and a change of door type on the front elevation.
The work was completed on July 10, 2022.
The development must align with approved plans, and a biodiversity enhancement strategy must be submitted and approved by the local planning authority within three months of the decision.
Relocation of extension of garden fence to facilitate disabled access and increase safety from vehicles
At 61 Ffordd Pentre, the relocation of an extension of a garden fence to facilitate disabled access and increase safety from vehicles has been approved.
The work must be carried out in alignment with approved documents.
Biodiversity enhancement measures as stated in email correspondence on September 26, 2024, must be implemented within 12 months.
Alterations to existing side extension to enclose front balcony off master bedroom and alterations to fenestration
Alterations to an existing side extension at 19 Lakeside, Barry, to enclose the front balcony off the master bedroom and make changes to fenestration have been approved.
Work must begin within five years of approval and be in line with the approved plans.
The new windows must match those used in the existing dwelling at the time of approval.
Further details and samples of the fascia and render must be submitted and approved by the local planning authority prior to the first beneficial occupation or use of the development.
The tree planting as stated in the green infrastructure statement received on June 20, 2024, must be carried out in full before the first beneficial occupation or use of the development.
