BP Chemical Factory retirees, whose workplace ceased operations nearly 30 years ago, continue to meet regularly.
The factory, which was a major employer in Barry and Penarth, at its peak employed more than 3,600 people, producing millions of tonnes of PVC and other petroleum by-products.
The retired workers now gather every six weeks for a three-course lunch at various venues.
The pensioners' meetings offer the chance for former colleagues to catch up and reminisce about their working days.
Recently, they met at the Barry Masonic Hall for a buffet meal followed by a "Race Day Afternoon."
The gathering not only saw some winners among the attendees but also raised £100 for The Cancer Research Charity.
Retired BP workers interested in joining these gatherings can bring along their spouses, partners, or friends.
For those wishing to participate in the next meeting, you can request an application form by sending a letter to Elaine Bush, The BP Society, c/o BP Pension Fund, Administration Team, Chertsey Road, Sunbury-on-Thames, Middlesex, TW16 7LM.
