A shop selling second hand or ‘preloved’ school uniforms in the Vale has got a colossal amount of back to school clothes.
Eto, a preloved clothes store by Awesome Wales, is based on Holton Road Barry. The business opened in November 2023 but has been selling second hand clothes for the last 3 years independently.
This is the second round of school clothes up for grabs with the business also having an earlier back to school sale event at the start of September.
We asked owners Amy Greenfield and Stuart Burnell how business is getting on.
They said: ”We’re running it until Tuesday. We've already had over 100 families in for uniform, but there are hundreds of items left on the rails too.”
The shop has over 3000+ items worth of second-hand clothes available and all school uniforms are £1 per item, or shoppers can fill a bag for £5.
In general, there are a total of 10000 preloved items on the shop floor at any time.
Amy said: “Today I've had "are you sure" from two separate customers when I told them that their armful of clothes was just £5.
“We've also had lots of members of the community donate a "pay it forward" so someone else could have a £5 bag for free if their budget was too tight. Including a donation from Botham Williams estate agents which is run by two local mums.”
The uniforms range from nursery clothes up until sixth form.
Alongside uniforms the business also sells shoes, backpacks, pencil cases, tights, and socks.
