THE LOCAL rugby team's home match has been called off for the weekend due to almost the full first team being out of action.
Barry RFC’s home WRU National Division 1 Cup first round match today (October 5) has been called off. The Bombers were due to host Abergavenny, but injuries and illness have sidelined ten of the first team squad.
The option of permit players was ruled out, as they would then have been cup-tied should their club make progress in the competition. The Bombers forfeit the game, with Abergavenny going through to the next round.
Barry’s Youth team were at home to Aberdare in the Cardiff Premiership Blue League today (2.30pm), and are top of the table.
There were victories for both teams in their opening league fixture last week.
