An unofficial Barry holiday has been celebrated with locals marking ‘Dog day.’
‘Dog day’, which takes place October 1, marks the day that dogs are allowed back on Barry Island beach.
Many excited locals celebrated the day and let their pooches run wild near the surf down at Whitmore Bay.
Emma Taylor, 36, runs ‘Rat Pack Dog Services’ she said: “It’s so wonderful to see the dogs back and romping around Whitmore Bay.”“It’s such a great beach for them to let off some steam, meet some doggy friends and for owners to enjoy many of the dog friendly cafes afterwards.”
‘Treats Doggy Style’ a local grooming business based on Friars Road have also embraced the unofficial Barrybados holiday by offering a free ‘Puppachino’ with every purchase from October 4-6 to mark the first dog friendly weekend on the beach.
Here are some gorgeous pictures of furry friends experiencing ‘Dog day.’
