A couple visited Barry Dock lifeboat station as part of their effort to reach all RNLI stations across the UK and Ireland.

Belinda and James Richardson are on a mission to visit all 238 Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland.

They travelled in a Porsche 911 and have set themselves a challenge to complete the journey in 911 hours, having raised £83,000 so far.

The funds are intended to go towards purchasing a 'relief' D class lifeboat for the RNLI.

The couple began their adventure at exactly 9.11am on August 23, 2024, and aim to complete it by 9.11am on September 30, 2024.

Once they finish, they will have covered over 8,500 miles, boarded 36 ferries, and taken four flights.

While at Barry Dock, the couple presented a pack of Top Shouts playing cards and a 200th anniversary jigsaw puzzle, both of which are part of their efforts to engage supporters with the RNLI’s work.

The couple were warmly received by the volunteers and crew at Barry Dock, who showed them around the new lifeboat station and its newer Shannon lifeboat.

The couple’s Porsche 911 has become a symbol of their commitment, attracting attention from both RNLI teams and the public at each stop on their journey.

As they continue to visit more stations, the couple's challenge contributes directly to ensuring that the RNLI remains equipped to save lives at sea.

With more stations still to visit, the Richardsons’ challenge goes on as they strive to meet their 911-hour deadline.

Their journey not only raises awareness for the RNLI’s critical mission but also directly impacts the charity’s operational capacity by funding equipment vital for saving lives at sea.
