Three planning applications have been submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council relating to two Barry properties in the last week.
The applications were submitted between September 16 and September 22.
Cole Farm
Proposals include removal and reconstruction of the chimney stacks and alteration to the roof structure at Cole Farm on Cold Knap Way, Barry.
Although work began on January 8, 2024, it remains unfinished.
The roof modifications were approved in 2006, however, the complete reconstruction of the chimney stacks was not included in the initial consent.
The council documents revealed: "As the building is listed and within a conservation area, planning permission and listed building consent is required for the works, which did not form part of the historic consents."
The precise schedule of work outlines the use of materials such as new sprocketed oak rafter feet and natural blue grey riven finish slates for roofing.
It also details the reconstruction of the chimneys with locally sourced blue lias limestone.
Another application for Cole Farm was submitted concerning the regularisation of the chimney reconstruction and remedial works to the timber roof structure.
Starting on December 3, 2023, the work is yet to be completed.
Cafe development
The proposal seeks to develop and widen the A3 usage to the ground floor and lower ground floor cafe located at 11, Paget Road.
The plan includes selling hot food with provision for a stainless steel flue to the side elevation of the property.
It will operate as a cafe / chip shop & ice cream parlour from 9am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and on Sundays and bank holidays.
The proposed blueprint outlines the use of the ground floor for a cafe/chip shop, while the lower ground floor will be allocated for bicycle storage, waste management, and food preparation.
Access for deliveries and waste removal, including cooking oils, will be from the back of the property.
An approved waste management company will handle the disposal of redundant oils.
