A cancer support charity is set to hold a festive fundraiser later this year.

Maggie's will host the afternoon event at the Memo Arts Centre in Barry on Saturday, November 23.

The charity will be joined by choirs and solo artists to raise funds for its drop-in centre at Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.

The centre provides free specialist support for people with cancer and their families.

Maggie's was founded by a young mother living with advanced cancer, who believed in a holistic approach to cancer care.

The charity offers psychological, social, and practical support for people with cancer and their families.

Rachael Davies, centre fundraising manager, said: "We don’t receive any government funding at all, so every pound we need to run our centre is fundraised through events like this concert.

"We’d be delighted if you could join us to help raise much needed funds and get into the festive spirit."

The charity said it provides a "safe, calm environment" for people diagnosed with cancer, offering practical advice, emotional support, and a place to meet others going through the same experience.

Maggie's also runs workshops, courses, and one-to-one and group support to help people manage the challenges of living with cancer, such as stress, depression, side-effects of treatment, money worries, and bereavement.

The charity said its programme of support "has been shown to improve physical and emotional wellbeing during treatment and recovery".

Doors will open at 2.15pm for a 3pm start, and tickets are available on Eventbrite.
