There have been four planning applications for the Barry area submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council in the past week.
Here are the applications that were submitted between September 9 and 15.
Chimney restoration
Cole Farm at 9, Cold Knap Way, Barry has applied for listed building consent to regularise the reconstruction of its chimneys and carry out remedial works to the timber roof structure.
Tree reduction
There's a proposal to reduce the size of a previously reduced Sycamore tree at Strady Lodge, Llancadle, Barry.
The tree, located in a tree conservation area, is set to be trimmed back to its previous reduction points, about a two metre reduction.
The activity is part of routine maintenance.
Tree sectioning and removal
A Leylandi Tree at Pant Y Coed, Llanbethery, Barry, in a tree conservation area, could be sectioned and removed if the application is approved.
Self-contained flats
The former Pets R Us shop at 1A, Regent Street, Barry, currently vacant, is set to undergo conversion.
The application details plans to convert part of the ground floor and the upper floor into four self-contained flats, retaining the ground floor for a retail unit.
The proposal comes as a response to what the applicant has described as insufficient business to sustain it purely as a retail enterprise.
The intended renovation will include external alterations to the shop front, with the walls and roof using the existing sand cement rendered and painted white walls and a blue/black slate roof.
The windows and the doors will be converted to powder coated aluminium, painted white.
Internally, each proposed flat will offer between 35 square metres and 45 square metres living space.
As the existing property lacks a rear or side garden, part of the ground floor will be reserved to provide cycle parking and refuse storage facilities.
The applicant highlighted that a number of properties in the area have the same mixed use.
