Goodsheds, a popular spot in Barry, has been ranked ninth in a list of the UK’s top trending food markets, according to TikTok hashtag analysis by Premier Inn.
The market, which opened in 2020, has become a bustling social hub, utilising old railway sheds and shipping containers.
It offers a diverse range of food options, from gourmet burgers and wood-fired pizzas to plant-based dishes.
The market regularly rotates its vendors to keep the offerings fresh and exciting.
Goodsheds has been featured in 370 TikTok posts, showcasing its vibrant atmosphere and diverse food selection.
The market is a short drive from Cardiff, making it an ideal stop for food enthusiasts on a road trip through South Wales.
Cardiff Market, another Welsh favourite, was ranked eighth in the list, with 411 TikTok posts highlighting its iconic Grade-II listed building and variety of local delicacies.
Newport Market also made the top 10, coming in tenth place, making it the third Welsh market to be recognised in the list.
London dominated the list, with seven of the top 10 markets located in the capital.
Camden Market was the top pick, with 20,600 hashtags, followed by Borough Market with 16,200 hashtags.
Premier Inn’s analysis covered more than 150 street food markets worldwide, reflecting the growing popularity of these destinations.
According to Google Trends data, searches for street food markets have increased by 10 per cent over the past year.
The casual and cost-effective dining experiences offered by these markets have made them a hit with travellers looking to savour local cuisine.
Street food markets are also seen as a great way to learn about a culture, with many travellers choosing destinations based on the quality and regionality of the food on offer.
In addition to the UK rankings, the analysis also revealed the world’s most popular food market, with Souq Waqif in Doha, Qatar, taking the top spot.
