With the weather getting colder and the leaves changing colour its time to say ‘hello’ to Autumn! So, here’s how you can make the most of the season and enjoy a range of different fun days and activities here in the Vale.

Fancy making something sustainable and stylish? Then head on over to Scoop Barry, where owner Laura Davenport will be running an ‘Autumn Wreath’ making class. The business promises ‘materials will be provided to make an autumn wreath for your front door.’ The event is kicking off on Thursday 26th September at 7pm. For all the Ale fans out there this one for you! Why not go on an Ale based adventure ran by The Real Ale company. The Vale of Glamorgan Real Ale Trail is an iconic bus-based pub crawl through the rural Vale countryside. The website breaks it down the best:

‘A bus chauffeurs you all day through spectacular countryside to rural pubs. You can visit as many or as few pubs as you want there are no rules to how many pubs you visit. It’s about exploring and experiencing new pubs and ales you’ve never tried before…without the worry of driving.’

A lover of everything Halloween? Then this next one’s for you. Add this to your Vale Autumn Bucket list because this one definite must do. Have you ever picked out your own Halloween pumpkin? Well, that’s exactly what’s on offer at Greenland Farm. The 2024 Pumpkin Trail officially opens October the 4th. On its website the business promises more ‘weird and wonderful’ varieties of pumpkins than typically on offer at local supermarkets. The business also offers a ‘Twilight Pumpkin Walk’ which promises ‘spooktacular photo opportunities.’

 

Another, Autumn must do within the Vale is the Goodsheds ‘Autumn Market.’ The event is free to attend and offers has dubbed itself the ‘cozy celebration of the season!’ Attendees can enjoy ‘delicious food and drink from local markers and producers right in the heart of the Goodsheds, surrounded by fantastic street food and unique indie shops.’

 

With the arrival of the big night itself why not trade in the traditional trick or treating for something a bit more adventurous? Fonmon Castle in Rhoose is offering a ‘Fancy a Scream’ fright night style experience. Events on offer include a ‘Scare Run’ Monster Bash Halloween party, a spooky Halloween Story Trail, and Tarot Card Readings inside the eerie castle.
