A WOMAN in Barry offers a personal shopping experience for her customers.
It’s a Vibe Boutique run by Megan Phillips, 31, on Holton Road opened its doors back in January earlier this year and since then business has skyrocketed.
Meg promises to look after customers and give them more attention than they would typically receive in a standard retail clothes shop.
Barry and District News asked Megan how business is going she said: “It’s going amazing, I’ve had really good feedback, and the community in Barry’s been really supportive- I’m trying to cater for all shapes and sizes, and we’ve got loads of different clothes in for all different ages.
“It goes from around ages 14 to 15 to even 60- and 70-year old’s coming in the shop as well which is really good- I’m trying to branch out to everyone, I get a lot of plus size ladies popping into the shop which I cater for, so it’s going really well.”
Meg is honest with her clientele: “I’m really truthful so if they try something on, I’m honest I give them loads of different ideas, a good 5 or 6 girls have said that I have really boosted their confidence so that’s what I’m there for as well.”
Megan even offers deals for her clients to help ease financial pressures: “Money can be tight for some people so I try and do a lot of deals
"I do this thing where if one of the girls pops in and they’d like to buy something then I’ll take a very small deposit of whatever they can afford until their payday and hold it for them for up to about a week or 2 weeks."
Megan also prides herself on her ability to create last minute outfits.
“I’m good with last minute outfits, I always say I’ve got you don’t worry-I get a lot of this on the weekends they’ll come in panicking ‘I need an outfit for tonight I’ve left it last minute!’.”
The shop also serves as a support network for her customers.
“I speak to everyone; I’ve had girls in there and they’ve broke down in tears where they are going through a breakup and we’ve just sat there for an hour or two having a chat and I think that’s what it’s about.
“I’ve had a couple of older ladies just pop in and you can tell they just want to talk to somebody if they didn’t buy anything that’s fine.
She’s happy with how her business has turned out Megan said: “Honestly, it’s like my second home.”
Megan is also currently a finalist in The Welsh Business Awards.
