A Vale of Glamorgan man's latest photo exhibition has been opened.

The mayor of Vale of Glamorgan Council, Cllr Elliot Penn, officially opened the exhibition of artist and photographer Malcolm Downes' work at Art Central Gallery.

Mr Downes, an enthusiastic member of Barry Camera Club, is well-known for producing monochromatic prints with a 35 mm film camera.

His latest collection reveals his innovative photographic techniques.

Detailed refraction droplet images of flower heads have been captured using Macro photography, among other methods like Intentional Camera Movement Imagery (ICM) photography, duplication imagery, and astro photography.

Addressing the artist and guests present, Cllr Penn said: "We are delighted to be able to host Malcolm's first solo show at Art Central Gallery."

Acknowledging the artist's efforts, he added: "As an artist, I understand how much time and work it takes to create each piece.

"These imaginative photographic images have been developed with great expertise."

Optimistic about the success of the exhibition, Cllr Penn ended his speech saying: "They will appeal to anyone visiting the gallery.

"I am sure the exhibition will be a great success."

The exhibition is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday until September 14.
