The Vale of Glamorgan Council has received two planning applications in the last week.
The applications include a proposed development of four homes and the removal of trees.
Here we take a look at the applications submitted to the council between August 26 and September 1.
Residential development
The first application refers to a site at the Rear of Plas Cleddau, Cwm Talwg, Barry, where a total of four dwellings are proposed by Lynda Seel.
The development will consist of two single-storey one-bedroom homes and two two-storey two-bedroom homes.
The site is currently a disused car park, and the buildings will be made using red multi-soft mud clay facing brickwork.
On-site car parking, cycle storage and waste bin housing are also included within the proposal.
This application is found by the number 2024/00605/FUL on the council's planning portal.
Tree removal
The second application, submitted by Chris Thomas, concerns the removal of two trees - an Ash and a Mountain Maple - from the rear garden of Palmers Cottage, situated in the Penmark conservation area in Barry.
The trees are not subject to a Tree Protection Order and, according to Mr Thomas, they are unsightly and hold no aesthetic value. The application also references a silver birch which is at the end of its life and has birch die-back and a severe fungal infection.
The application can be found using reference number 2024/00465/TCA on the Vale of Glamorgan Council's planning portal.
