VANDALS have destroyed a number of young trees in a Barry Park.
Six young trees were vandalised at Pencoedtre Park costing the council a staggering £3000 worth of damages.
A Spokesperson for the Vale of Glamorgan Council commented on the vandalism and said: ‘When local authorities face challenging financial situations, ten years of care and growth now amount to nothing.’
The trunk of the trees appeared to have been snapped in half. Their species unknown. Many local community members commented on the situation.
One online user wrote: ‘The park attendant does a fab job keeping it clean and looking good must be awful to turn up to that after all the hard work.’
Another said: ‘So sad, nothing lasts in Barry anymore.’
Another wrote: ‘Some people have no respect for what others do to make Barry a nice place for us all to live.’
It is thought that the vandalism occurred on the 17th or 18th August.
They continued: ‘Our Parks Team work hard to create quality open spaces for people to enjoy and the vast majority of visitors are considerate and respectful-Such senseless destruction is completely unacceptable.’
The council have urged individuals with any information about this to report the incident to South Wales Police online with the crime number 2400278596 https://bit.ly/SWPProvideInfo
