AN investigation is being carried out by the RSPCA after a dog was dumped near Barry Docks and left to die.
A resident found what she described as an ‘American Bulldog’ when walking near the docks on August 16.
The dog was abandoned over the docks with its lead still attached and wrapped in a blanket.
Its body was already decomposing when she arrived on the scene.
She said online ‘someone needs to be held responsible for this type of awful cruelty.’
The incident was reported to the RSPCA who have since scanned the body for a microchip.
Users on Facebook were appalled by such blatant animal cruelty.
One user wrote: ‘That just broke my heart poor dog must have been so scared! Anyone who hurts animals should be locked up.’
Another commented: ‘How vile of a person do you have to be to do that.’
Another said: ‘I live right by the docks-I hope the person is found.’
A spokesperson for the RSPCA commented on the incident, they said: “This must have been very distressing for those who found the body of this dog and we’d like to thank those who have contacted us about this upsetting discovery.
“We attended the location along with police - who arranged for the body to be removed.
“If you have any first-hand information about this incident please contact the police or call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999 and quote log 01331969.”
