A Friends and Neighbours group in Barry recently celebrated its 21st anniversary at Beryl Road Pioneer Hall.

More than 70 members and volunteers gathered marking the occasion with banners and balloons.

Noteworthy attendees were Jane Hutt MS, Vale of Glamorgan mayor Elliott Penn, and Barry Town Council deputy mayor Dennis Clarke.

Originally a small organisation, the group has significantly expanded over the years and now features a waiting list.

The coordinator Gay Fifield was presented with a signed card and Marks and Spencer vouchers courtesy of Sheila Harvey, a long-standing member.

Jane Hutt took the floor to thank Ms Fifield and all the volunteers for their efforts.

Attendee spirits were further heightened with a Pimm's toast and a buffet.

The highlight was a performance by the Tenovus choir, covering well-known hits and culminating with "Happy Birthday."

Post-performance, the choir joined the group for tea, coffee, and cake.

Barry's Asda Community Champion lent a hand in arranging the event.

As a keepsake of the day, each attendant received a pen inscribed with the group's name.

Now, group members look forward to the September meeting featuring Barry Community Choir, and a trip to the Cirencester Christmas Market.
